Time is an illusion

Categories :

hello! have you ever heard the phrase “time is an illusion”?

I have heard that  phase multiple times in  several different settings.  It was brought to my attention when this clock I have dropped the second hand and then dropped the minute hand months later.  WHAT?!?!?

What do you mean “time is an illusion”???  I have been running on a time clock all my life.  As a child I mostly heard “Hurry up!”  I always seemed to be running “behind time”.

My dear Mom was ALWAYS late for EVERYTHING!!!  She was a night person living in a day world.  She had a clock where all the numbers had fallen and lay at the bottom of the clock!  Her wristband watches were only jewelry she wore that had no meaning at all.

I have friends who are ALWAYS 15 minutes early to EVERYTHING!!!  If they are not at least 10 minutes before agreed time to meet then they consider themselves late.

I have tried to be more conscious and respectful of people’s time.  We don’t want to “waste” time.

Time keeps on slippin’ into the future according to the Steve Miller Band.

We have songs such as Time after Time, Back in Time, Time is on my Side, Time of the Season, It’s about Time, Time Warp, and on and on.  And then there is “Father time” and ideas about “time management” and how “time heals all wounds”.

There is a government laboratory in Boulder, CO that keeps America’s official time.  So much of our life depends on this “time”.

Time is a construct that keeps our society organized and efficient, a construct that we all in America are participating in.

Jim Croce sings “If I could save time in a bottle”.  Yeah.  If only.

Science has shown that time moves slower at sea level than it does in the mountains.  There is the experiment of twins who one, an astronaut, went to space for an extended period and the other twin remained on Earth.  The changes in their biology was measured and the space twin had aged differently than the Earth twin.

So how can time be an illusion?  In the spiritual realm there is no time as we know it.  That is the teaching.

I guess the time that the spirituals talk about is not the same as the time that keeps our life ticking.  It all seems to be relative.

So living in the present moment is where life really is: right here, right now.

Are you living in a past time? or a future time in your mind?  Is it “time” to get free?
